Before Mike and Georgia McDermett moved to Volente, they owned and operated a West Texas oil and gas well servicing company. They used a special mobile service rig, called a "pulling rig", that utilizes a derrick that extends from a five axle carrier. That derrick is 96 feet high - hence, the name of their Volente ranch on FM 2769.
As of February 2000, the McDermetts have four cows and two palomino ponies enjoying the ranch while they build a home on Booth Circle. Mike has joined the Volente fire department as a firefighter and Georgia is serving on the fire department board of directors. We are glad they are here!
By the way, that bright white fence is NOT wood, but a special type of plastic that never needs painting and is non-toxic to fence-chewing livestock.
