VNA BOARD MEETING NOVEMBER 6, 2007
Meeting called to order at 7:16 pm. Members present: Ken Beck, Al Blunt, Judi Graci, Al Graci and Connie Curtiss.
SECRETARY REPORT: Accepted as mailed and read.
TREASURER REPORT: This report will be included in next month's report as our treasurer was absent. I have asked Anthony to submit his report to us right away so that it can be included in these minutes.
LAKE TRAVIS: Lake Travis is at 680.3', 75 degrees. JG reported that the LCRA has acquired the Garwood water rights and will bringing the diversion point to Lake Travis. This will result in more water being available for sale based on the method that the LCRA uses to calculate water supply. These rights will be discounted, lowered, from the amount currently granted at Garwood which is near the gulf. The LCRA is also hoping that the City of Austin council approves the settlement proposed between these entities. The VNA is against this settlement as long as it restricts the COA to effectively only buy from LCRA.
WATER LINE THROUGH VOLENTE: Board discussed the tri-cities process on gaining water. The President of the VNA is actively participating in all public hearings on this issue, is keeping our elected officials fully informed on what is happening, and will begin regularly meeting with other Volente area representatives and the BCRUA. A public hearing was held on November 5th at the Leander City Offices, and a second hearing/meeting is scheduled for Nov. 15th at the Volente fire station.
BUSINESS AND DEVELOPMENT: Board discussed new and possible building in this area, including new subdivisions.
MEMBERSHIP: One new member and one renewal this month.
ROADWAYS AND SAFETY: The road additions on 2769 have been completed.
COMMUNITY RELATIONS: Newsletter info: AB discussed with Board the sharing of postage and content with the VVFD in the forthcoming newsletters.
Combining with the Fire Board on a joint Newsletter makes sense economically and contentwise. Subjects to be included: Safe Haven, Volente Garden Club Christmas Project with Safe Haven .
NO MAIL
SAFE HAVEN: AB took a load of things to Safe Haven this week. He spoke with director David Gomez who said they needed many things. List incudes: bed linens, towels, socks, toiletry items including tooth brushes and paste, warm clothing and fresh fruit.
Adjourned at 8:00 pm.
Connie Curtiss, Secretary
