VNA BOARD MEETING  OCTOBER 2, 2007
 
 
Meeting called to order at 7:12 pm by Vice President Al Blunt.  Ken Beck had other meetings to attend.  Members present:   Al Blunt, Connie Curtiss, Judi Graci,
Ryan Janda, Jessica Janda, John Schlotzhauer and Anthony Demichielli.
 
Board discussed mailing of and charges for newsletter.  Bulk mailing vs regular mail delivery was discussed.
 
SECRETARY REPORT:  Accepted as revised and read.
 
TREASURER REPORT:  There is $2780.83 in the treasury as of October 3, 2007.
 
LAKE TRAVIS:  Lake level, as of tonight, is 680.6 feet.  The water quality is mixed, the bacteria low, the oxygen level is low creating fish kill.  The temperature is 82 degrees and there is an 8 foot visibility.
 
WATER LINE THROUGH VOLENTE:  Funding for this project by the tri-cities is underway .  There is a 358 million dollar loan.  Around October 8-12, this issue may go before the Texas Water Development Board.  Further information, as this issue continues.
 
BUSINESS AND DEVELOPMENT:  JS talked about the PEC forum he attended.  PEC is the biggest coop in the nation, and has come under a lot of scrutiny of late as to how they run their business.  This has created lots of problems and scrutiny by their customers.  JS filled us in on the procedure at this forum. 
AB said the HEB at  4 points is expanding by 13,369 feet which will eventually make it about 87,327 feet.  There was discussion that it would be similar to the Central Markets in other parts of Austin.
 
MEMBERSHP:  There were 2 new members this month making a total of 60 VNA members.
 
ROADWAYS AND SAFETY:  RJ said TX Dot said 2769 road repairs should be completed in the next couple of weeks.  He also said he would talk with them about the bumps in the road caused by heavy equipment that have not been repaired properly.  Board also discussed other construction and road conditions in the area.
 
COMMUNITY RELATIONS:  JJ said the newsletter will be mailed and in mailboxes in few days.
 
MAIL REVIEW:  Articles on Travis County Voter Registration meeting.  Also retail buildings being built on  620..
