VNA BOARD MEETING JUNE 5, 2007
Meeting called to order at 7:05pm. Members present: Ken Beck, Al Blunt, Al Graci, Anthony Demichielli, Jessica Janda, Ryan Janda, John Schlotzhauer, and Judi Graci
COMMUNITY RELATIONS; JJ said she attended a Leander ISD meeting re the new school off 620 which is planned to be a reconstruction of a chemical plant. She will write a non-biased article about this meeting in the upcoming newsletter. The project has been shut down for now due to mold issues. Board discussed other projects involving LISD.
NEWSLETTER UPDATE: JJ talked about the content of the newsletter. She stated that she has “lots” of content and will probably need to edit submissions. She hopes to get it published soon.
MEMBERSHIP : JG will take over the membership committee job. There is one new member this month, making 54 paid. KB proposed we have a way for businesses to have memberships for $50.00 per year. This would include one vote in any elections, and 4 people able to eat at Annual Meeting. There would be no marketing or advertisements involved. Any businesses approved by the Board would be eligible. AB made motion we approve, seconded by AD. Board approved.
Board agreed to waive fees for Volente Real Estate since they do so much volunteer work for us.
ROADWAYS AND SAFETY: RJ said that The Anderson Mill Rd. from 620 to 183 stretch should be completed next summer. Widening for 2769 should be completed at end of August. RJ talked about the possibility of 2222 widening to additional lanes. The rebuild of 2769 from 620 to the Anderson Mill turn off is not projected to be done till 2010.
Board dicussed the gate on public easement at water end of Navajo Pass.
SECRETARY REPORT: Accepted as read.
TREASURER REPORT: Balance for May is $2780.83. Two new memberships.
LAKE TRAVIS: LCRA said lake at 683.43 as of this writing. This is 11' abpve average fpr this time of year. AG quoted "Austin is in the desert with occasional floods"/
WATER LINE IN VOLENTE: JG went to TRi City meeting in Round Rock to get a copy of the site analysis document that was completed in April 2007. If the project proceeds, properties on the west side of Ray Vista will have easments related to the water project. The VNA and the Village of Volente continue to work closely together in an attempt to force the Tri-Cities project team into meaningful dialogue and negotiations with us. PLEASE SEE NEXT NEWSLETTER FOR MORE EXTENSIVE INFORMATION AND TRY TO ATTEND THE MEETING ON jUNE 21ST AT THE FIRE HALL ABOUT THIS IMPORTANT ISSUE. THE TRI CITIES HAVE HIRED A PR FIRM TO EXPEDITE THIS WATER PROJECT AND THIS MEETING WILL BE ABOUT THESE ISSUES.
BUSINESS AND DEVELOPMENT: Board discussed the re-opening of Cafe Bleu now under new management.
FIVE YEAR PLAN UPDATE: AB said they had their first meeting re emergency services and fire services. Future needs of greater Volente were discussed.
