VOLENTE NEIGHBORHOOD ASSOCIATION
BOARD MEETING MAY 6, 2003

Meeting was called to order by past president Walt Thompson. The first order of business was the selection of officers. The officers elected were as follows:

Al Blunt: President
David Springer: Vice President
Connie Curtiss: Secretary
Bob Mott: Treasurer

Members present were: Al Blunt, David Springer, Connie Curtiss, Bob Mott, Susan Breyer, Mary Pomplun, and Scott Crossett. Ken Beck was unable to attend.

The next order of business was the selection of committee chairs. The following committees are:
Lake Travis Committee, Chairman Walt Thompson.
Membership Committee: Susan Breyer Chair and Mary Pomplun Cochair
Roadways and Safety Committee: Al Blunt
Community Relations: Ken Beck Chair, Scott Crossett Cochair
Business and Development: Scott Crossett Chair

Discussion of the various committees was conducted so that the new member could understand their goals.

New Business Agenda: Cafe Bleu, signs at Bullock Hollow and 2769,liason processes with Village of Volente officers, Volente bulletin board, animal report and park issues.

Discussion of signs at 2769 and Bullick Hollow led to possible ways of polling people about their opinions of the signs. Walt T. will discuss with ranger Dan, board members will informally ask neighbors. The results of this polling will be added to agenda for next month.
Scott C. opened discussion of how VNA board should relate to Volente Village people. Suggestions were to attend Village meetings, ask them to attend VNA meetings. Scott indicated he would be willing to start this process.

Discussion included VNA member attendance at village meetings, also invite officers of village to attend our meetings. Discussed idea of having Scott and Ken Beck's having open dialogue with village officers.

Discussion of bulletin board's lack of use. How to tell people about it were: announcing at fish fry, newsletter, Lonnie Moore's website, banner over the board itself and through the village officials.

Discussion of Cafe Bleu and the noise factor, and their non-compliance. Discussed whose responsibility this was. Scott C said we would look into this, and report back to board.

Animal report discussion led by Walt T. He reported that 2 labs had been poisoned and that other dogs had been killed. Possibility that other pets who are missing could have been poisoned too.

Park discussion: Tim Davis noticed that park needed dirt and furnished dillo dirt. Discussed how to handle this financially and get the dirt spread.

Other items discussed: May 17th fish fry, and how to advertise it. Send Lonnie info on fish fry and ask him to send to his list of people in greater Volente. Ask member of community to VNA meetings first Tuesday of month. Invite Lonnie M. to next meeting.
