WT called the meeting to order at 7:15 PM.
· Treasurer’s Report: EM reported $4,138.60
· Lake Travis Committee: An article about the lake draw down issue from the Water Matters newsletter was discussed. Some portions of this article may be used in the next VNA newsletter; permission will be obtained if needed.
· Business and Development Committee: LB reported that she asked KB for an update on his development, The Crossings, and any information he obtained regarding Volente Beach. As of the meeting she had not heard back from him.
· Membership Committee: EM reported 103 paid members for 2001, and dues received after 11/1/01 will go towards 2002 memberships.
· Roadways, Safety and Common Areas Committee: WT reported he had not gotten anywhere with the calls he has made to Travis County about the conditions of Lime Creek Road. He will try sending an email and see if that gets a response. Lime Creek Road has poor shoulder conditions, lack of shoulder in some areas, and 6” drops in places. JM said he has had a pothole in front of his mailbox for 7 years, and is not happy about it. WT said he has called previously about the potholes at the intersection of Pocahontas and Old Anderson Mill. WT has complained to Travis County Sheriff’s Dept. about speeding cars in the Navajo Pass, Arrowhead area.
WT sent the application in to the parks department for the Adopt-a-Park Program for Volente Park. Bulmaro and crew worked clearing the brush and cleaning up the park. WT, LB and Roger and Jeannie Shull also worked to clean up the grounds. LB will be the coordinator for any park activity. The plan is to solicit help for a future project at the park in the next newsletter.
· Community Relations Committee: WT asked the board for suggestions on the Baxter meeting scheduled for 7:00 PM 11/14/01 at VVFD, since the newsletter has not gone out yet to notify the community. It was decided that EM would make a flyer and take it to the post office by Thursday. EM and WT will get a sign up at Bullick Hollow and FM 2769. JM made a motion to approve up to $100 for a sign and or materials. The motion was seconded by LB and all were in favor. EM made a motion to approve up to $50 for refreshments. WT seconded the motion and all were in favor. WT is to get lemonade and water, ice, etc. for refreshments.
The VNA sign still does not have a home along the road. CS has had little progress with the pursuit of putting it at Anderson Mill Marina (AMM). WT has the sign at this time, and plans to make finding a permanent place for it a personal priority. He has contacted PEC about putting it on one of their poles, but for safety reasons was denied permission. He has also tried contacting the man at AMM, and Ranger Dan Chapman to see about the possibility of placing on their property at Cypress Creek Park.
The newsletter will most likely include the lake draw down issue, Volente Park, a summary of Mr. Baxter’s presentation, and possibly something on the development in Volente depending on what information is obtained.
WT asked LB to get with Lonnie Moore about how to get the sheriff’s report again, and posting it to the Volente website each month.
Meeting adjourned at 8:20 PM
