Presentation from Anderson Mill Gardener's Club

Dora Turner, Woody and Gerry Wood, Lois Fryler, Cornelia Ferrel  (President)

Account of the history of Anderson Mill was presented by Cornelia, in which
she talked about the original grist mill, etc. - more information can be
found on the Volente web page.

She discussed the formation of the Gardener's Club in 1955 - they originally met in the members'
homes. Then they built Robinson Hall as a meeting place.  The Mill replica and museum were then built after Robinson
Hall. They were actually formed as a regular Garden Club, a breakaway from an already existing Burnet Road Garden Club.
They hold monthly meetings (2nd Thursday of each month) at which local specialists talk on a variety of subjects in
relation to plants, wildlife, gardening etc. They hold an open house on the fourth Sunday of each month,
March-October, weather permitting.

The Club also awards  scholarships to local students from LISD.

Currently the Club is raising money for restoration of the Mill. They are
searching for someone (through the Internet!) who has the appropriate
knowledge regarding restoration of mill wheels and most of the potential
contractors are located in the northeast. The Club has the possibility of
applying for a matching grant through a contact in the Daughter of the
Republic of Texas, who is very familiar with grant writing and the
associations/groups who can provide that assistance.

VVFD/ESD (LM)
Vote on Nov. 2 passed with 82% majority
VNA role to publish information as facilitators
Fire Commissioners may recommend meetings to get input from the neighbors.

Roadways/Safety (JG)
Sidewalk issue - Lime Creek Road -  on hold until County can get permission
from Linda Carter with regard to a drainage plan.

2222/620 - paved on one side with one new lane. Almost finished.

Cones/tags on FM 2769 - AP will be checking on what the significance of
these is - possibly new signs or road expansion (!?).

Lake Travis Stakeholders Meeting (AC-S)
Next mtg. will be discussing noise issue. They have spent several meetings
deciding on how to conduct business.

Marinas (SMcL)
Sallie got a call from James Dunham at LCRA, but she didn't know what it was
about. Turns out it is regarding Sandy Creek Marina and the ship's
store/restaurant issue. Neighbors are very upset about the possible
relocation of the restaurant onto the water.

VIP - discussion on Channel 7 news item. LM has it on video. LM got another
Email from Tran Thiet asking whether VNA had done anything else regarding
VIP. LM answered that board had voted against taking any further action. He
referred Tran to the September meeting minutes.

Post Office (LM)
Surveys inc. Trails End, Blockhouse Creek communities. Decision will be
based on a majority vote response. AC-S is concerned that this is a bid by
Cedar Park to eventually annex our communities. AC-S suggested sending out a
flyer or having a local meeting to tell the neighbors the facts about this
zip code change (see Volente web pages for more information). LM will write
a flyer and it will be sent to all residents on Route 3.

Adjourn at 8.30pm.
