LM called meeting to order at 7.00pm
Minutes of 5/4/99 meeting were reviewed; AC-S/SM moved/seconded motion to approve minutes as read - unanimous approval.
Treasurer's Report (AC-S): current balance is $3921.89 (one membership received 6/1/99 bringing total balance to $3931.89).
JA: presented info from VVFD (Richard Wood) regarding Emergency Services District (ESD) petition. It was noted that the info had been posted on the VNA web page. Petitions will be placed at VJs and Volente Realty (perhaps accompanied by warm bodies to make people sign!) Jeanne Shull is coordinating effort for VVFD - we don’t know how many signatures they have as yet. Board members will be recruited to get signatures for VVFD.
CS - Lake Travis Committee (JM on vacation):
EM - report on VBC water park - apparently they have a permit from LCRA to allow use of lake water for slides etc without treating it. CS will call Jim Richardson and find out the particulars of this permit with regard to. water quality.
Discussion of illegal parking and the fact that the sheriff has been towing cars. Further discussion re. Golf carts and valet parking down Ray Vista - golf carts have been retrofitted (with turn signals etc) to make them "street legal".
JM Email - Re; paragraph 4 of 4/22/99 letter from LCRA to VIP AC-S thinks we should pursue this further since the expansion issue was in the agreement. JA remembers hearing two PWC ramps for gas pumps (there is only one right now) and two PWC ramps for ADA (there are 6 slots along the Dry Hollow Cove edge of courtesy slips (4 PWC ramps are within one of the courtesy slips). CS will call Jim Richardson of LCRA to see whether they are going to follow up on 4/22/99 letter and check that they have moved the PWC ramps.
Lake Travis Cleanup: LCRA did little/no forward planning/prep and had
only one person assigned. Seems like they want to phase the whole thing
out. VNA may propose to hold our own lake cleanup when the water level
falls late in summer.
JG: sidewalk on Lime Creek Road - Sonleitner’s office said that the construction plan was approved last Friday (5/28/99) and it was possible that sidewalk would be done in next two weeks.
EM: legislation re: unsafe roads for bicycles died in session. Calls to City of Austin - not their jurisdiction; TX DOT - said it would have to be a city ordinance.
JA: Membership Committee: how to increase membership - web page with photos; Ladies' Auxiliary social functions/VVFD functions - VNA should have sign up available possibly manned by VNA board member; mail out sign up postcards to all of Route 3 and have them available at VJs and Volente Realty; VNA could sponsor a membership drive night to welcome new residents of area; permanent board member name tags requested for meetings. LM’s work on www.volente.org web page greatly admired and appreciated by board! Web page could have links to/from other neighborhood assoc., Austin.Citysearch.com, Austin360.com, Texas travel sites etc. LM wants to do short monthly newsletters and will proceed with this. LM will bring exact membership count to next meeting.
JA- VVFD needs first responders/fire fighters - suggestion that VNA sponsor one or two people for training - this will be investigated further.
Re: Mr. Lyn Yostes - JM will call him re: noise complaint - LM pointed out that there is noise info on web page, under "Useful Links".
LM: ZIP code issue probably a September item
AC-S: no news on incorporation.
EM: question re: 10 acres next to fire hall - John Shipley and Volente group development.
EM: Bob Mott has asked for a copy of the agreement with Volente group/Sandy Creek Marina and residents, which is part of the LCRA marina permit - copy will be provided to EM.
LM moved to adjourn meeting at 8.45pm.
