Notice of Public Hearings on Tax Increase

Travis County Emergency Services District #14

Last year, the Travis County Emergency Services District #14 property tax rate was $0.10 per $100 valuation. That rate raised $420,424.45, a portion of which was used to fund operations such as: provision of fire and medical emergency services.

This year, Travis County Emergency Services District #14 is proposing a property tax rate of $0.10 per $100 valuation (no change in rate). That rate would raise $553,892.76, which is $133,468.31 more than taxes imposed last year.

There will be two public hearings to consider that increase. The first public hearing will be held on Wednesday, August 24, 2005 at 7:00PM at Volente VFD, 15406 FM 2769, Volente, Texas. The second hearing will be held on Wednesday, September 21, 2005 at 7:00PM at Volente VFD, 15406 FM 2769, Volente, Texas.

There will be a final tax increase meeting on Wednesday, September 28, 2005 at 7:00PM at VVFD. At this final meeting, the ESD 14 Commissioners will vote to adopt the 2005 tax rate.

2. Motion and action to approve the 2005 Tax Rate by adoption of the following resolution:

Resolved, on this, the 28th day of September, 2005, that the Board of Commissioners of Travis County Emergency Services District No. 14 ("District") adopt the District's ad valorem tax rate for the 2005 tax year of $0.10_ per $100.00 valuation of the appraised property within the boundaries of the District. Per the Texas Tax Code (section) 26.05, the District has no debt and all taxes raised by said rate will be used to fund the maintenance and operation expenditures of the District for the next year.
