VFD Election for Board Of Directors

Ballot Box

Election for the VFD Board of Directors will be held at the Fire Department on Friday, January 31st from 4-7PM

Currently, there are two seats open on the Board. The seats and candidates up for election are:

President Position - Scott Spurlin

I have lived in Volente for 18 years and served on the VFD board for the last 4 years. We have made significant progress with our Fire Department in the area of personnel and equipment. As we move forward we face significant challenges with our revenue base and our operational plan. I would like to continue working with the VFD Board, the ESD, and the citizens of our service area to put forth an operational plan that best meets the needs of our service area, while using our tax dollars efficiently.

Secretary Position - Suellen Jordan

Suellen Jordan is a native Texan, born and raised in Sillsbee. She attended Sam Houston University, has been a resident and land owner in the Village of Volente since 1999, and co-owns and operates Hacienda del Lago, a wedding venue and vacation rental business here in Volente.

Suellen has been an active member of the Volente Fire Department since 2001. During that time she has served Volente as the Assistant Fire Chief, attending to the department's administrative and organizational needs. She also served as a volunteer EMT-B First Responder, where she ran several hundred EMS service calls to the aid of her Volente neighbors and visitors, and received the National Phoenix Award for her lifesaving efforts. She was also an appointed commissioner for ESD 14 for 7 years. Prior to her tenure serving the Village of Volente, Suellen spent ten years at Dell Computers, which she joined in 1988 as employee number 600. There she managed logistics through Dell's transition from a start-up company through to a global leader in the PC industry. Suellen lives in Volente with her longtime partner, Frank Baffi, and enjoys boating, bird watching and of course playing with Teo, her year-old, overgrown, Golden Doodle puppy.

Ballots are available at the fire department. Member unable to attend on January 31st may request a mail ballot by contacting: elections@vvfd.net .

You are eligible to vote if you are a property owner within the Volente Fire Department area or are registered to vote within the area. Voters may be asked to show proof of membership by providing either a recent property appraisal notice or tax bill from Travis County, showing VFD service area address or current voter registration card or driver's license with a VFD service area address.
