This Friday: VFD Elections and Potluck Dinner

VFD Election for Board Of Directors - Reminder

Ballot Box

 Election for the VFD Board of Directors will be held at the Fire Department on Friday, January 25th from 4-7PM


Currently, there are three seats open on the Board. The seats and candidates up for election are:


Vice President Position


Gary Potts graduated from U.T. with an engineering degree and has been building houses in the Austin area since 1983. He organized the Spicewood at Bullcreek Homeowners Association and served as its president for 3 years. He served on the board of directors of Northwest Travis County MUD #2 for 13 years; the last 10 years as president before becoming annexed by the city of Austin.

Gary has served as vice president of the Volente Fire Department for the past 5 years. He has strong team building and organizational skills. His leadership experience helped him accomplish the most difficult goals.


Treasurer Position


Jeannie Shull was a high school math teacher for 31 years and a VFD EMT for 6.5 years. Presently she volunteers on the ASTA Excursion Train and has been he VFD treasurer since 1999.


 Member at Large Positions:


Linda Rogers has been in Volente for 2 years, previously having lived in New Mexico - first in the Jemez Mountains and then Albuquerque, where she met and married Paul Rogers. Paul grew up in Texas, so they moved here the year after they married. Linda was very active in her community of Jemez Springs, where she volunteered at the local library and fire station. She also was involved with community fund raisers and charity organizations, and local small business groups. She is employed as business manager for CHA Seminars.


Ballots are available at the fire department. Member unable to attend on January 25th may request a mail ballot by contacting: elections@vvfd.net . 

You are eligible to vote if you are a property owner within the Volente Fire Department area or are registered to vote within the area. Voters may be asked to show proof of membership by providing either a recent property appraisal notice or tax bill from Travis County, showing VFD service area address or current voter registration card or driver's license with a VFD service area address.

All Come To The Potluck Dinner Friday January 25th

image of Volente enjoying potluck dinner  Come one; come all!  What better way to celebrate Volente's fire board election than to host a community potluck dinner!  At 7:00 PM on Friday, January 25, the VFD will be hosting a potluck dinner while the election judges count up the ballots. Everyone Is Invited!!

Bring your best dish, enjoy lots of good food and visit with old and new friends! This is a great way to find out what's happening in Volente! The Auxiliary will furnish paper goods, plasticware and drinks.
