Important Town Hall Meeting
The Future of Emergency/Fire Services In Volente / ESD 14
Please join all your neighbors for a very important meeting on Feb 23rd at our fire station to hear a presentation about the options being considered by the Emergency Services District #14 for the future of emergency services in our area. As you know ESD #14 is based at the Volente Fire Station. However, almost two thirds of the population serviced is located in five subdivisions adjacent to Cedar Park. Our ESD in the past has contracted with the City of Cedar Park to provide emergency services to these subdivisions, but the contract with Cedar Park has become too expensive for the ESD budget. The ESD board is attempting to negotiate with Cedar Park to adjust the contract but has had little success so far. This has caused great concern for the residents of the five affected subdivisions, and they are expected to be well represented next Wednesday evening. Therefore it is imperative that the residents of the Village of Volente and beyond be present to listen and to voice their opinions.
ESD #14 has formed a committee to study the situation, identify all possible alternatives going forward, prioritize those alternatives and to present this report to the ESD board. Wednesday night it is planned that a presentation will be made giving the current status of that work and presenting the current alternatives being considered. We need your presence to help us identify the pros and cons of each alternative.
This meeting is sponsored by the Volente Neighborhood Association working in conjunction with the Cedar Park Neighborhood Action Network. The intent is to share as much information as possible with the service area as a decision must be in place prior to June 15th when the current Cedar Park contract expires. Please join us Wednesday night.
